Okay, so you are a UVa grad -- that in and of itself makes you worthy of being famous. However, as much as we'd like to feature each and every DC area 'Hoo, we have to have standards...

So, this is an official call for 'Hoos in the DC area who are doing interesting things and want some attention. Whether you are in an a capella group, a play, a band, organizing a charity event, running your first marathon, or about to have your moment of fame on NYPD Blue, let us know and we'll get the word out: HooAreYou@DCHoos.org

This month we are featuring John Mackay, CLAS 1983 and Director of the Lyceum, Alexandria’s History Museum.  The museum’s October event features one of UVA’s most famous non-graduates...Edgar Allan Poe.

"POE in ALEXANDRIA, A Performance of Selected Works from the Master of Horror", The Lyceum, 201 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, October 30-31, 8:00 pm.

Join The Lyceum for two unforgettable Halloween evenings with America’s earliest master of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe! Actor David Keltz will re-create Edgar Allan Poe’s visit to Virginia in 1849, shortly before his death. The performance will include recitations from such classic works as “The Raven,” “Annabel Lee,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” and many others.

Tickets are $10 and the program is open to general public, but best suited for ages 12
years and up due to content. For tickets, or information, call The Lyceum, 703-838-4994.
